Autumn Nature Adventures in CNY
There’s so many nature adventures you can enjoy in Central New York all year round.
But Autumn…
now Autumn in Central New York offers a splendor all its own.
Read on friend to discover local Autumn happenings this September!
Part 1 of a 3 part blog series!
Despite my ragweed allergy, Autumn is my favorite season to explore nature and enjoy local events held in September and October.
It’s always nice to get out of the garden to make new friends.
A nature walkabout also let’s you see how Mother Nature creates her ‘gardens’!
Here’s some of my favorite Autumn happenings of September. Don’t forget to share your favs in the comments below!
SEPTEMBER HAPPENINGS
We'd love to see your smile September 16th & 17th at two local FUNdraisers;
Gnomes & Native Plants! OH MY!
There’s over over 40 artisans, food trucks, pumpkins, wine tastings, and a great deal on mums!
(YES~ mums & native plants like native sedges, asters and alumroots mix together beautifully!)
The fun continues on Sunday Sept. 17th
with a fundraiser for Amanda MacDowell at the Sandy Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
We’ll be in great company too! Friends like Helping Hands & Pond Pit BBQ are coming together with live music, art and more in support of Amanda.
BUT WAIT! There’s more fun coming on September 23rd & 24th!
I kind of think this weekend as a ‘Earth Warrior Weekend’!
Saturday September 23 you can volunteer with Sterling Nature Center for their Coastal Clean Up or lend a hand removing invasive species with SLELO-PRISM to protect habitats along Lake Ontario
Then on Sunday Sept. 24th
reward yourself by creating a beautiful dried floral wreath with my friend Claire from Fernwood Flower Farm!
Claire has been growing & drying beautiful flowers like zinnias, sunflowers, strawflowers, and more! Her dried floral wreaths are not to be missed!
This fun workshop takes place at beautiful Little Salmon Farm in Parish,NY~ their pumpkin patch & country views are amazing!
Corn maze, pumpkins, hay rides & more are a real day in the country! Check out their Luminary Nature Walk on October 14th!
Let’s round out the 1st month of Autumn with a Nature Hike!
September 30th join CCE Horticulture Educations Cierra Williams & Sue Gwise at Robert G. Whele State Park.
On this short Fall Nature Hike you’ll learn all about native plants, tree identification and invasive species. The hike is a short mile long walk over flat terrain. AND YOU’LL GET A FREE NATIVE PLANT!
Let ‘em know your attending by registering HERE
Let’s get out there an explore nature & enjoy community friends
